TDI-80: Mainly refers to a mixture of 80% by mass of 2,4-toluene diisocyanate and 20% by mass of 2,6-toluene diisocyanate. Sometimes also refers to toluene diisocyanate, aliases: toluene diisocyanate, toluene, and methyl phenylene diisocyanate. Nitration of toluene produces dinitrotoluene, and then reduces toluene diamine. Toluene diamine reacts with phosgene to obtain TDI. Colorless liquid. There is a pungent smell. The color becomes darker in daylight. Sodium hydroxide or tertiary amine can cause polymerization. Reacts with water to produce carbon dioxide. It is miscible with ethanol (decomposition), ether, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, chlorobenzene, kerosene, olive oil and diethylene glycol methyl ether. poisonous. May cause cancer. It is irritating.
